about
Demeree is a Jamaican-American artist born and raised in Connecticut. Graduating from Temple University with a Bachelors in Studio Art, Demeree wanted to find a way to make a breakthrough into the art industry. However, the education she received wasn't enough to truly inspire her. It wasn't until Demeree's own personal natural hair journey that led to her painting something that was more motivating.
As such, a collection of paintings entitled: The Natural Hair Series was created. In this collection, Demeree captures the many different hairstyles and struggles that women who are natural may experience. With a continuously growing collection, Demeree has several paintings influenced by her culture, women of color and those of the Natural Hair Movement.
